Virginia

Oysters

Many states in America produce top-shelf oysters, from Washington to Maryland and all along the Gulf Coast. Virginia, however, was eating oysters before most of those places were even colonies, first harvesting them around Jamestown in 1607. Today, the state has eight different oyster-producing regions, and you can enjoy them whether you’re tasting wine in Central Virginia or basking in the sun by Chesapeake Bay.
