Marionberry Pie
Marionberries don’t actually exist in nature. They were developed during the 1950s as part of a research project to find berries that could grow commercially in the state. It’s a sweet/sour mix of the Olallieberry and Chehalem berry, named after the county where most of the hybrid crops are grown. Unlike Montana, Oregon doesn’t put its favorite berry in nearly as many obscure dishes, and you’ll never go wrong with a slice of marionberry pie.
