Apple Pie With Cheddar Cheese
Tough call in Vermont, a state equally as famous for its abundance of apples as it is for its fabled Vermont cheddar. To make things easy on hungry visitors, Vermonters created a way to enjoy both in one delicious dish. While an apple pie traditionalist might question throwing a slice of sharp cheddar cheese on top of a sweet sea of cinnamon and nutmeg, the combination is brilliant. The cheese is served unmelted on top of each slice, and gives a surprising contrast to the usual apple pie flavor.
