Chinook Salmon

Unless you happen to know any large bears who can catch it for you, you’re not finding salmon fresher than you’ll get in Alaska. The Chinook, or King Salmon, is the most prized of them all, boasting a smooth, tender texture that’s almost like eating butter from the ocean. The only catch is that Chinook salmon are only available for a few months a year, so make sure you plan your Alaska adventure between May and July.
