Fried Pickles
Fried pickles are as much a part of the Southern experience as sweet tea and magnolia trees. Like a lot of iconic dishes, nobody’s sure who was first to bread and deep-fry a pickle. But they didn’t become a menu mainstay until Bill “Fatman” Austin started selling them for 15 cents a bag. Feel free to use that historic tidbit to entertain your friends the next time you’re waiting on an order.
