Hotdish

Hotdish in the Midwest is kind of like Curry in South Asia – it’s more a category of dishes than one specific thing. This casserole-like creation is the sort of dish every family boasts their own version of, where recipes vary from one grandmother to another. You don’t need to score a North Dakota family dinner invite to try Hotdish – usually made with a cream of mushroom soup and canned vegetable base. Restaurants around the state offer their own takes, and there’s even a festival every February in Fargo. Brrrr.
