The Garbage Plate

Wings and pizza, both things the state of New York does exceptionally well. But you don’t need to be in Manhattan or Buffalo to find shining examples of either. The garbage plate, however, really only exists in and around Rochester. You could call it America’s most elaborate drunk food, a plate packed with macaroni salad, hamburger or cheeseburger, hot dogs, melted cheese, and French fries or tater tots. Options abound, depending on what kind of “garbage” the lunch counter or diner you’re choosing at 2 a.m. has on hand.
